Lionel Messi has been named the new captain of Barcelona, replacing Andres Iniesta.

Messi had previously led Barcelona in Iniesta's absence. Iniesta had been captain since the departure of Xavi Hernandez in 2015.

Sergio Busquets, meanwhile, will become the club's second captain, a role previously held by Messi.

Messi is also captain of Argentina.
