Tom Werner has denied a report that Liverpool has rejected an offer of £1.5 billion to buy the club.

According to an Abu Dhabi news outlet, a group led by Amanda Staveley recently bid an initial £1.2 billion to buy Liverpool with the potential to raise £300 million more.

The report claimed the deal was "killed at the eleventh hour" by Fenway, but Werner said there was no truth to the "rumours."

"We have better things to do than batting down rumours about negotiations with Ms Staveley," Werner told the Liverpool Echo. "However, there's no truth to them."

Staveley played a role in the sale of Manchester City to Sheik Mansour.
