Real Madrid has reached agreement on a €400 million ($442 million) renovation of the Santiago Bernabeu with the city of Madrid.

Construction is expected to start next season and will carry a new facade along with a retractable roof.

“We will see a dramatic transformation of the Santiago Bernabéu,” Florentino Pérez said. “This stadium is one of the emblematic icons of our city and we want to make it one of the best stadiums in the world and the undisputed symbol of the strength of our capital.”

One of the stadium’s most notable features, the four corner access towers, will be covered by the new facade.
