Manchester United managed a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinals tie against Bayern Munich.

Nemanja Vidić scored early in the 58th minute on a header from a Wayne Rooney corner kick.

Bastian Schweinsteiger leveled the match in the 67th minute on a volley from a Mario Mandžukić header.

Javi Martínez picked up a late yellow card and will be suspended for the second leg, while Schweinsteiger was sent off with his second yellow card on a challenge in which Rooney appeared to dive.

Bayern was dominant in possession and United was left to rely on counterattack situations, though they scored on a corner.

Bayern completed 701 passes at an 84 percent success rate, while United completed just 174 passes at a 58 percent success rate, according to Sam Wallace of The Independent.
