Barcelona could have horizontal stripes in its next Nike home kit, according to Sport.

Under the headline ‘Revolution in the new shirt’, the paper quotes an inside source from the club and says the new design has already been approved by the club president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, having been presented by their kit manufacturers, Nike, at a secret ceremony at the Camp Nou on Monday.

“The company that equips FC Barcelona needed an innovative design because sales are down when the design is very similar to the previous year,” it adds.

Four horizontal stripes have never before featured on Barcelona’s home kit. According to the newspaper, the back of the shirt will also incorporate the Catalan flag, as featured on the club’s fourth kit this season.
