Barcelona forward Raphinha will miss approximately five weeks of action after suffering a right hamstring injury during Brazil's 2-1 friendly loss to France in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Thursday. The 29-year-old will not feature again until May.
The Brazil medical staff confirmed the injury Friday after conducting tests following Raphinha's halftime substitution. He will return to Barcelona for treatment.
The timing is damaging for Hansi Flick's side. Barcelona face Atletico Madrid three times in the coming weeks, a LaLiga visit to the Metropolitano next Saturday, followed by a two-leg Champions League quarterfinal on April 8 at Spotify Camp Nou and April 14 in Madrid.
Barcelona currently hold a four-point lead over Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga. A potential Champions League semifinal against Arsenal or Sporting CP, scheduled for late April and early May, would also fall within Raphinha's recovery window.
This marks the third right hamstring injury Raphinha has sustained this season. Previous absences cost him 13 games between September and November and three additional matches in January and February. He has recorded 19 goals in 31 appearances this term.
Marcus Rashford is the most probable replacement on the left side of Barcelona's attack. Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, Ferran Torres, Joao Cancelo and Roony Bardghji are also available options for Flick.
