Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says that Lionel Messi still has a long way to go in his career and is looking to renew his contract.
"We'd like to renew his contract. We have the plan to. He's young, he's 31 and he still has two more years on his current deal. He's always innovative and brings a lot. He has many years ahead of him and in the next few months will sit down with him so he can continue for years to come at the Camp Nou," said Bartomeu.
Bartomeu threw out the possibility of giving Messi a lifetime contract as they did for Andres Iniesta.
"He knows his physique very well. He has a good mentality and the day he feels like his contribution isn't enough, he'll leave," added Bartomeu.
