The Portland Timbers have signed Fanendo Adi to a multi-year, designated player contract.

Originally acquired on a three-month loan May 13 from FC Copenhagen, Adi has wowed the team by scoring four goals — with two two-goal games — and adding two assists in six games.

At 6'4, Adi brings a physical presence to the Timbers' attack up front.

"Adi has made an immediate impact with our club," Portland coach Caleb Porter said in a written statement. "He has proven to be an ideal fit in our system and possesses qualities that will make him a very effective striker in this league."

Adi joins Diego Valeri as the Timbers' designated players.
