Michael Carrick is hopeful of being offered a new contract from Manchester United.

Sunday marked a year to the day since the 34-year-old signed his current terms and these expire in the summer.

Asked about his future Carrick said: “I am not sure yet to be honest. I haven’t heard anything just at the moment, no. Hopefully [I will] some time soon. I have been here a long time, I have had some great times here [since 2006] and I love the club. It’s a great place to play. Playing games like against City keeps you having that buzz and enthusiasm to play for longer.

“I am not making a big deal of it, to be honest. I will just have to wait and see what happens. I am quite relaxed about it.”

Carrick has made 33 appearances this season and is often selected by Louis van Gaal for important games.
