Real Madrid is blaming Manchester United for not submitting paperwork for David De Gea's transfer in time.

Manchester United is accused by Real Madrid of taking eight hours to make minor modifications to the agreement.

The two clubs agreed to a £29.3 million transfer with De Gea going to Real Madrid. Real Madrid said that an agreement had been reached and that the contracts had been drawn up swiftly, precisely in order to give them time to close the deal, and that they had been sent to United at 13.39, Spanish time. According to Madrid, these were not returned until 21.43, over eight hours later.

Real Madrid won't appeal and De Gea will remain with United until at least January.

Angel Di Maria was sold by Real Madrid to United last August in a late window move.
