Manchester United has interest in taking Borja Mayoral as part of a David De Gea transfer with Real Madrid.

United are refusing to let De Gea, who is entering the final year of his contract, leave for less than the record fee paid for a goalkeeper when Gianluigi Buffon joined Juventus from Parma for £32.6 million in 2001.

Real Madrid is expected to make one final push for De Gea before the close of the transfer window.

Mayoral is regarded as one of Real's most promising young players following his goal-scoring form for club and country.

The 18-year-old scored seven goals in seven appearances in last season's UEFA Youth League and was a regular in Zinedine Zidane's Castilla side.

Mayoral also finished as top scorer in this summer's European Under-19 Championship with three goals in five games as Spain won the tournament.
