Chelsea is expected to complete the signing of Pedro from Barcelona after triggering his £21.1 million buyout, beating Manchester United for his signature.

United had withdrawn their interest and Pedro is set to arrive in London on Wednesday to undergo a physical and discuss personal terms.

Louis van Gaal, having initially been inclined to secure Pedro, has drawn encouragement from the performances to date of his current squad and is understood to have sanctioned his club’s withdrawal from negotiations.

Pedro will add width to Chelsea's attack after Juan Cuadrado has disappointed since his acquisition.
