Manchester United have give up the hope of retaining David De Gea this summer and are demanding a bid of more than £30 million for the keeper.

But Louis van Gaal plans to play him on Saturday in their friendly against Barcelona.

He told reporters: "When a player is injured it's the same thing as when you have to wait during the season. I give players time to recover and build up their fitness.

"It's still possible he'll be ready to start the season against Spurs because he shall play on Saturday."
