Florentino Pérez has told Carlo Ancelotti that he will be relieved from his post as Real Madrid coach.

Ancelotti won the Champions League and Copa del Rey in his first season, but won no trophies this year.

Rafa Benitez is widely expected to replace Ancelotti as manager.

“We reflect every year, after season ended," said Perez. "This has been a decision analyzed over the whole year, but made in the last week."

Perez was asked by a reporter at the press conference what Ancelotti lacked as manager.

"I don't know," replied Perez.
