Marco Reus and Borussia Dortmund have made significant progress on a contract extension.

On Monday, local paper Ruhr Nachrichten as well as Dortmund's Radio 91.2 reported that Dortmund and Reus have come close to an agreement on extending their partnership.

Reus has a €25 million release clause in his contract this summer.

"We have put all our cards on the table, the ball is now in Marco's field," BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told the paper, though he added that he will continue "to not make any water level reports."

Bayern Munich ended their interest in Reus in January, but Real Madrid has been reportedly willing to double his salary.
