The Montreal Impact traded midfielder Felipe to the New York Red Bulls for left back Ambroise Oyongo and midfielder Eric Alexander on Monday.

The Impact also received allocation money and an international player spot for the 2015 season, and the Red Bulls got the first spot in the MLS allocation ranking.

Felipe will be reunited with former Impact coach Jesse Marsch, for whom he had his best year in 2012 and who was hired by the Red Bulls on Jan. 7 to replace coach Mike Petke.

"We feel that this trade puts us in a great position," Red Bulls sporting director Ali Curtis said in a statement. "Felipe gives us options going forward that will allow us to play the style of soccer that we want to play. He is the type of player that can make an impact immediately and be a part of our future."
