Thibaut Courtois has yet to make his competitive debut with Chelsea as he's been on his third-season long loan to Atlético Madrid.

Petr Cech remains first choice for Chelsea at goalkeeper, but they have been unwilling to permanently part ways with Courtois. Chelsea is considering an extension for Courtois as he has two seasons remaining on his current deal.

He told Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo: "Courtois is Chelsea's property and that has been made clear.

"Initially he was loaned out to us for a year but now we've had him for three seasons.

"Thibaut is very pleased to be at the Vicente Calderon right now although he is prepared to fight for his place with Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge.

"His future does not depend on us, so we have a big challenge over the summer to strengthen our squad.

"Our sporting director (Jose Luis Perez Caminero) has told me that we should not fear the big clubs that are interested in our footballers. That is a welcome relief because this team is still developing."
