Paul Lambert acknowledges that he won't survive another season at Aston Villa if they struggle as they have in 13-14.

"I don't want another season like this or last year," said Lambert. "Off the pitch, the finances are a lot healthier, that's progress in itself. But things haven't progressed the way I've wanted, I didn't come here for it to be like this."

Villa has suffered 10 home defeats.

Asked whether he was mindful of the consequences if Villa were to struggle again next season, Lambert replied: "Of course. I understand. I'm not naive. Modern-day football now, people win football matches and leave. But this club cannot have [another season like this one]. The fanbase is too big."
