Carlo Ancelotti claims Liverpool never approached him about their managerial vacancy.
Liverpool hired Jurgen Klopp fairly quickly after their dismissal of Brendan Rodgers.
"With Liverpool, there was no contact," Ancelotti said.
"When a job becomes available, they always use the names of the coaches currently without a team, so, my name was thrown out there. But I never had any direct contact with the directors of Liverpool."
Ancelotti has interest in returning to the Premier League when his sabbatical ends.
