Chelsea has submitted a $6 million bid for Yoshinori Muto of FC Tokyo.

Muto has scored 16 times in 37 appearances for the J-League club, as well as once in 11 appearances for Japan.

FC Tokyo president Naoki claims that Chelsea’s interest in Muto is not connected to the £200 million sponsorship deal they signed with Japanese company Yokohama Rubber in February.

Speaking to Sports Nippon, Ogane said: ‘It is true that Chelsea sent us an offer for Muto.

"It is a formal offer with conditions. They want to acquire him in the summer."
