Tests confirmed that Italy fullback Leonardo Spinazzola tore his Achilles tendon during their win over Belgium in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Euros.

The 28-year-old was one of the team's standout performers and was named star of the match for three out of the Italy's four matches.

"He has been one of the best players of this tournament and he will still be even if he can't play in the next games. We are very, very sad with what has happened it seems quite a serious one," said Roberto Mancini after the game.

Lorenzo Insigne also expressed his sadness regarding the injury.

"Its a great loss, we will try to go all the way above all for him. Up to today he has been such a key player, an influential player for us."
