Lionel Messi's father and agent, Jorge Messi, is flying from Argentina to meet with Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu in hopes of resolving his son's future.

Jorge Messi will demand that Barcelona allow his son to leave for free, releasing his player registration.

Bartomeu will counter with a two-year contract extension to keep Messi with Barcelona until 2023.

The club's stance is that Messi has a deal until 2021, and he or a prospective buyer must meet his €700 million release clause to allow for a move.

Sources say Barcelona are not optimistic that Messi will agree to a renewal.
