The Uruguayan Football Association laid off 400 members, including manager Oscar Tabarez.

The 73-year-old Tabarez, hired in 2006, was the longest serving manager in international football.

The measure was taken so staff members could collect unemployment insurance.

Tabarez won the 2011 Copa America.
