Iker Casillas intends to run for the president of the Spanish Football Federation.

Casillas would reportedly have the backing of current La Liga president Javier Tebas, who has been a vocal critic of the incumbent Luis Rubiales.

Casillas has not retired from FC Porto, but has not played for the club since suffering a heart attack last May.

Rubiales has been a controversial figure in his two years in charge of the Spanish FA, most notably overseeing Julen Lopetegui's departure before the start of the 2018 World Cup.
