Nicolas Burdisso was named the sporting director of Boca Juniors.

Burdisso was groomed in Boca's youth academy and made his senior debut with the Argentine club in 1999 before moving to Inter. His playing career also spanned Roma, Genoa, and Torino.

Burdisso said “it’s a very special day for me because I’ve come back to a special place in a very different role to the one I had before”.

He will be in charge of naming a new manager after the club parted ways with Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
