Arsene Wenger believes a European super league will take over weekend matches in the future, which will force domestic leagues to often play midweek.

“The next evolution? Maybe I will see you in a few years and you will certainly have a European league over the weekends,” Wenger said. “A domestic league will certainly play Tuesday/Wednesday. I think that is the next step we will see.”

The Champions League and Europa League exclusively play on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays except for the Champions League Final, which is played on a Saturday.
