Barcelona and Liverpool have agreed upon a transfer fee for Philippe Coutinho that could reach £142 million ($193 million).

In a statement on their website, Liverpool said: “Liverpool FC can confirm Philippe Coutinho will be leaving the club after a transfer agreement was reached with FC Barcelona, subject to a medical and agreement of personal terms. The player now has permission to complete the usual formalities to conclude the transfer immediately.”

Barcelona have put together a package worth a basic fee of £106 million, plus a further £36 million in variables, of which £26 million should be easily met.

After the £105 million basic, an additional £17 million would be payable for the first 100 games Coutinho plays for Barcelona, £4.4 million per 25 games. A further £4.4 million would be paid for Champions League qualification in the first two seasons with a £4.4 million bonus for winning the competition.

Coutinho has agreed a five-and-a-half-year deal worth £12.1 million ($16.4 million) per season.
