Jose Fonte has submitted a transfer request to Southampton.

Fonte has grown frustrated this season and was not selected by Claude Puel for any of the club’s six Europa League matches. Fonte’s contract runs until the summer of 2018.

Fonte moved to St Mary’s from Crystal Palace in January 2010 and has made 288 appearances.

Fonte has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United and Everton.
