Schalke has parted ways with Andre Breitenreiter.

Breitenreiter did help guide Schalke to a spot in the Europa League next season.

"I had a chat this week with [incoming director of sport] Christian Heidel and he told me honestly and directly that this would be my last game on the Schalke bench," said Breitenreiter.

"I have informed the team of this decision also, because I didn't want any messing around. Everybody knows now."

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl is expected to take over, although their director of sport Stefan Reuter said no agreement had been reached for him to be released from his contract with the Bavarians.

"There's absolutely no change to the situation," Reuter told Sky. "He's got a contract with us and that's how things stand.

"As things stand today, he is 100 percent certain of staying with us."
