Real Madrid will activate their £23.6 million ($33.9 million) buy-back option on Alvaro Morata and then sell him to the highest bidder on the open market.

Morata figures to command £40 million ($57.5 million) with Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all interested.

Morata would favor a move to United if Jose Mourinho takes over and generally would rather go to the Premier League than Ligue 1.

There have also been reports of interest from Leicester City, Napoli, Inter Milan and AC Milan, but Morata has ruled those clubs out for now.

Mourinho gave Morata his first-team debut in 2010 for Real Madrid.

Morata said later: “Mourinho could have chosen some other player but he chose me and I’ll be grateful to him for the rest of my life.”
