Javier Hernández has suffered a broken collarbone while on international duty with Mexico.

The 27-year-old collided with Honduras’s Brayan Beckeles shortly before half-time in Mexico’s warm-up friendly before the Gold Cup and the team doctor confirmed the extent of the injury after the game. “The fracture of the right collarbone has been confirmed clinically,” Gerardo Aguilar said.

“He’s being re-evaluated in hospital to confirm what we observed in a radiological study. [He’ll be out] for three to four weeks minimum.”

The injury could complicate Hernández’s attempts to secure a move away from Old Trafford after a season out on loan with Real Madrid, who declined to take up an option to make the move permanent.
