Newcastle has agreed to buy Anthony Gordon from Everton in a deal worth up to £40 million.

Gordon missed three days of training as negotiations continued and had wanted the move.

Chelsea was previously interested in Gordon as well, who has struggled this season.

Anthony Gordon failed to report for training with Everton as he attempts to expedite a transfer to Newcastle.

Newcastle have made an initial enquiry about signing the player this month, but sources have said the club will not meet Everton's £60 million asking fee for the transfer of the highly-rated forward.

Everton rejected two offers of £40 million and £45 million from Chelsea for Gordon last August.

Gordon has had a difficult season with Everton, scoring just three goals in 18 appearances. 

Newcastle are increasingly confident they will beat Chelsea to sign Anthony Gordon of Everton.

Gordon reportedly prefers a move to Newcastle.

Talks have been intensified over the weekend as it is believed that Everton is prepared to sell Gordon. Over the summer, Newcastle's £35 million offer was rejected by Everton.

Newcastle United have agreed to sign striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for €70 million including €5m in add-ons.

Isak joined Sociedad in the summer of 2019 from Borussia Dortmund for €10m and, after spending four years at the club, becomes Sociedad's most expensive departure of all time.

Isak is set to become Newcastle's fifth arrival this summer, with Matt Targett, Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Charlie McArthur also moving to St James' Park.

Newcastle are close to signing Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon for $45 million.

Other clubs, including Arsenal and Juventus, had hoped to buy Guimaraes at the end of the season but Newcastle have got in ahead of them.

Newcastle could turn to Dele Alli of Tottenham Hotspur if they're unable to reach a loan deal with Manchester United on a loan for Jesse Lingard.

Alli has fallen out of favor under Antonio Conte at Spurs. Alli’s career has stalled in the past two years and his days at Spurs look numbered. 

Newcastle has made an offer to Reims for 19-year-old striker Hugo Ekitike from Reims, but the offer will likely be rejected.

Reims values Ekitike at around $34 million and would like a sell-on clause in any deal.

Ekitike has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 17 Ligue 1 appearances this season in a team 14th in the table. 

Atletico Madrid are searching for replacements for Kieran Trippier as they near a sale of the right-back to Newcastle United.

Trippier has been open to a return to the Premier League since being tempted by a move to Manchester United last summer.

Atletico would favour a full-back who could also operate effectively at center-back.

Newcastle United has hired Eddie Howe as manager.

Howe's arrival marks the first appointment at the club since the £305 million takeover by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund on Oct. 7.

Howe replaces Steve Bruce, who left Newcastle by mutual consent two weeks after the takeover.

Chelsea and Newcastle United have been alerted on a possible transfer for Eden Hazard during the January window.

Hazard has fallen out of favor with Carlo Ancelotti this season with Real Madrid. Hazard has dealt with injuries and poor form during his time with Real Madrid after joining on a €100 million transfer in 2019.

Hazard has started just 25 games in La Liga and has five goals from 52 appearances across all competitions after suffering with a various injury problems since arriving in Spain.

Real Madrid are looking to raise funds to pursue Erling Haaland in addition to their long anticipated signing of Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.
