Jurgen Klopp Concedes Title Following Leicester City Loss

Feb 13, 2021 7:19 PM

Jurgen Klopp conceded that Liverpool were out of the title race following a 3-1 loss to Leicester City.

“I cannot believe, but yes. I don’t think we can close the gap," said Klopp.

Liverpool currently sit 13 points behind the league leaders.

Klopp added that he didn't like how his side reacted to going down 2-1.

“We dominated Leicester, we scored a great goal but then conceded a strange one, which is offside. The 2-1 is a mistake but it had too big an impact. There was still time to go. We have to show a different reaction. When we conceded the second, in that manner, it was a knock and I didn’t like the reaction after that.

Leicester City has lost James Justin for the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. James had been the highest rated English left-back in the Premier League this season.

“Sadly the scan hasn’t shown up so well for JJ (James Justin). It is a massive blow," said Brendan Rogers.

“(It) looks like he has done his ACL. It is a devastating blow for us because he has been incredible.

“He was walking about after the game and we hoped he would be okay, but we had to wait for the scan.

“He is in London with Brian, our doctor, getting all the information. He will have the operation soon. He will come back a better player for it.”

Brendan Rodgers Reveals He Survived COVID-19

May 29, 2020 12:49 PM

Brendan Rodgers revealed both he and his wife had COVID-19.

Rodgers is the second Premier League manager, after Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, to have confirmed catching the virus.

“I wasn’t well and it was later detected I had the virus,” Rodgers said. “A week after that, my wife had it. We spent about three weeks feeling the effects. We were nowhere near as bad as a lot of people but we lost our smell and taste for three weeks, we lost our strength, so I had a little feeling of whatever it must be like. It was tough.

“The strangest thing was the smell and the taste. You’re eating your dinner every day and you could not smell or taste anything. Then you lose your strength, you could hardly walk 10 feet and you were really blowing. I felt similar to climbing Kilimanjaro and you get to a certain altitude, you walk and you really suffer in your breathing. You’re walking 10 to 20 yards and you’re thinking: ‘Goodness me.’

“At the time I hadn’t been tested but you know it’s different. The headache felt like it isolated one side of your head. Your strength gets taken out of you.”
