Carlo Ancelotti: Napoli Will Walk Off Field Due To Racist Chants

Dec 27, 2018 6:39 PM

Carlo Ancelotti said he asked the ref to delay the match against Inter three times due to monkey chants directed at Kalidou Koulibaly.

Ancelotti blamed Koulibaly's red card on the ref's inability to take charge of the situation, and said that his side were willing to forfeit matches if racist chants continued.

“Announcements were made but the match continued. Next time we’ll stop the match by leaving the pitch, even if that means maybe forfeiting the match.”

Inter To Play Two Matches Behind Closed Doors

Dec 27, 2018 6:33 PM

Inter were ordered to play their next two Serie A matches behind closed doors. The ban was in response to monkey chants directed towards Kalidou Koulibaly.

The two matches are against Sassulo and Bologna in January and February.

Inter released a statement on Instagram and Twitter condemning the abuse, saying "Since 1908, Inter has represented integration, innovation and progressiveness. The history of Milan is a welcoming one and together we are fighting to build a future without discrimination. Those who do not understand this history do not stand with us".

Dec 13, 2018 9:12 AM

Beppe Marotta has been appointed Inter Milan's new general manager less than two months after leaving a similar position with Juventus.

Marotta is widely credited with being the architect of Juve's recent success.

"From today, I will be part of this great Inter, which is something I am really proud about -- to fulfil such an important role, being the general manager for the sporting aspects," he said.

"It's certainly an important experience and chapter in my professional life, full of great responsibility, although this certainly doesn't frighten me as we are at the start of an important path, and it has to be a winning one."

Luciano Spalletti Says Inter Lost Their Calm In PSV Draw

Dec 11, 2018 7:43 PM

Luciano Spalletti said his side were too caught up in the pressure surrounding their 1-1 draw against PSV in the final group stage match of the Champions League.

Inter finished third in the group after the result, tied on points with Tottenham. They are now in the Europa League.

Spalletti lamented his side's inability to tactically calm down the match, saying how PSV's counter attacking ability increased the tension in his side.

Spalletti added that "we did not manage to remain calm even though everything was still possible and we got nervous by losing a few too many balls due to some tactical disorder. They counter attacked a lot, something that increased the tension and nervousness and these are things that make you lose focus on the game. We suffered too many counter attacks, counter attacks that did not cause us too much damage but it was how we wanted to manage the game when we set up the game plan. We were too affected by the tension surrounding this game.”

Luciano Spalletti Calls For 'No Surrender' Against Juventus

Dec 6, 2018 1:51 PM

Luciano Spalletti admitted the difficulty of Inter closing the 11 point gap at the top of the Serie A table ahead of their clash against Juventus.

"We still lack some focus during games, but we're a great team in terms of names and how we read games", the 59-year-old manager added.

Spalletti also pointed out Juventus' ability to add match-changing players in the transfer market, including losing two of his best players in Miralem Pjanic and Joao Cancelo to his rival over the years.
