Atlético Interested In Samu Castillejo Of Málaga

Dec 28, 2014 12:20 PM

Samu Castillejo is already attracting the attention of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid after his impressive run of performances for Málaga.

Since making his La Liga debut as a substitute against Valencia at the start of the season, Castillejo’s workload has been significantly increased by manager Javi Gracia. The 19-year-old has now become one of the club’s most important attacking players over the course of half a season.

Castillejo’s buyout clause is €20 million, although Diego Simeone’s team are yet to field a concrete offer for the pacy attacker.

Koke: Nothing Has Changed Despite Overhaul Of Atleti's Roster

Dec 26, 2014 11:31 AM

Atlético Madrid underwent a summer of change, but Koke insists nothing has changed with the club.

“Nothing has changed. We prepare for games based on the opponents we are facing. We analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and use those to our advantage to approach the game and win.

“We have different players and they have to adapt. But the most important thing is the group, not just one or two players. We are adapting, the players towards the group, and the group towards the players, merging all that. The work we do on the pitch – running, fighting, giving everything – in the end the important thing is that it all benefits the group.

“Well, the thing is, the players that aren’t here any more aren’t here. I wish them the best, but on the pitch you can’t do anything about it. What’s past is past. We enjoyed things with them, and now we are enjoying things with our new team-mates.”

Koke then spoke about Diego Simeone and praised the manager, as well as assistant manager Mono Burgos.

“The coach has a profound effect on us. Assistant coach Germán Burgos has done an incredible job too. Perhaps he is not as intense, and a bit calmer, but the important thing is that we have both of them – they are doing a great job and it shows in the team.”

Atlético Madrid and A.C. Milan have agreed upon an 18-month loan of Alessio Cerci for Fernando Torres.

Torres is on a two-year loan from Chelsea and had been disappointing for Milan, but he will now have the opportunity to return to his boyhood club of Atleti.

Cerci has struggled to find playing time under Diego Simeone at Atleti after leaving Torino.

Atleti, Milan Open Talks On Torres For Cerci Switch

Dec 23, 2014 11:14 AM

AC Milan and Atlético Madrid have opened talks about a swap of Fernando Torres for Alessio Cerci.

Torres is on a two-year loan from Chelsea to Milan, but has scored just once in 10 Serie A appearances and not at all since Nov. 23.

Milan had initially hoped to cancel the arrangement with Chelsea, but the London club are adamant the player is not returning to José Mourinho’s squad. “We have no space,” said the Portuguese when asked recently. “We have no space for players in our list, either in the Champions League or the Premier League.”

Cerci has struggled with Atleti.

Any deal would have to be sanctioned by Chelsea.

Atleti Rejects Milan's Offer For Torres For Cerci

Dec 15, 2014 10:53 PM

A.C. Milan attempted to swap Fernando Torres to Atlético Madrid for Alessio Cerci, according to Di Marzio's David Amoyal. Atleti was not interested in a deal for Torres, who was a youth player until his 2007 move to Liverpool.

Cerci moved from Torino to Madrid this summer, and while he started 37 of Torino’s 38 Serie A matches before his move, he has struggled to find a first-team place under Diego Simeone. Cerci has garnered just 99 minutes so far this season in Spain, and has yet to start a game.

Cerci cost Atleti around $22 million this summer..
