FIFA Upholds Transfer Bans For Real Madrid, Atleti

Sep 8, 2016 8:02 PM

FIFA have upheld the transfer bans against Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid.

Neither club can register players during the next two transfer windows and will have to wait until January 2018 to make any new signings.

Fifa said that its rules, which ban international transfers of under-18 players except in certain circumstances, existed to “protect minors who move to other countries and prevent soccer clubs from exploiting them.”

Real Madrid and Atleti have met in two of the past three Champions League Finals.

Sergio Aguero To Miss Manchester Derby On Suspension

Sep 2, 2016 6:41 PM

Sergio Aguero has received a three-match ban and will miss the Manchester derby on September 10th.

The charge relates to City’s 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Sunday when Aguero appeared to elbow Winston Reid. An FA statement read: “The Manchester City forward was involved in a 76th-minute incident with West Ham United’s Winston Reid on Sunday, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

“The club denied the charge and submitted further that, if it was to be found proven, the standard punishment would be clearly excessive. On finding the charge proven at a hearing today, an independent regulatory commission went on to reject the club’s further claim to decrease the three-match ban.”
