Austin officials have finalized a deal for a new, privately-funded $225 soccer stadium.

The stadium will eventually be the MLS home to Austin FC, rumored to join the league in 2021 as the stadium opens.

The grass-field, open-air stadium will be built on land that's been vacant for 25 years.

Barcelona have withdrawn their proposal to play Girona in Miami due to a "lack of consensus".

Their match-up is scheduled for January 26th. 

La Liga has plans to play one league match outside of Spain. The move to Miami sparked controversy and pushback among the Spanish Football Association and the player's union. 

The Confederation of African Football stripped Cameroon from hosting the 2019 African Cup of Nations due to security concerns. 

Morocco is now the favorite to host the competition, which begins in June.

Cameroon won the 2017 African Cup of Nations, defeating Egypt 2-1 in the final.
