Pochettino: Harry Kane Decision Will Define Champions League

May 25, 2019 7:08 PM

Mauricio Pochettino said that his decision whether to start Harry Kane will influence the perception of Tottenham's Champions League result.

Kane is on pace to be fit for the final.

“Whether to start him is a point we’re thinking about a lot. It is a decision that, one way or the other, will be judged after the game. If we win: fantastic decision. If we lose: sh*t decision, and you are going to kill me," said Pochettino.

Pochettino added that whichever team manages their emotions better will win the match.

“What I learned from playing the 1992 Copa Libertadores semi-final and final with Newell’s Old Boys was that your emotional state is decisive. It’s not tactics, it’s not physicality. It’s about how the emotion will be the trigger for your talent, how you manage it.”

Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino To Miss Match Against Barcelona

May 6, 2019 7:43 AM

Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will miss the second leg of Liverpool's tie against Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals.

Salah suffered a concussion in Liverpool's match on Saturday against Newcastle.

Liverpool trail Barcelona 3-0 on aggregate.

“It’s a concussion so it’s a case of him not even being allowed to play,” Klopp said of Salah. “He’s not allowed to play. He feels OK but it’s not good enough from a medical point of view.

“There’s hope and that’s football,” he added. “We are far away from giving up. Two of the world’s best strikers are not available tomorrow - it doesn’t make life any easier but while we have 11 players on the pitch we will try.”

Aaron Ramsey Done For Season With Hamstring Injury

May 1, 2019 1:10 PM

Aaron Ramsey has played his last game for Arsenal after suffering a hamstring injury against Napoli in the Europa League.

Ramsey will join Juventus this summer on a free transfer.

"He is important for us. We cannot use him and the danger is always there for a forward player like that. We have players who can play [in that position], but he was in a good moment when he had this injury. For me it was a good experience to work with every player and with him especially, because he can transmit his energy and he showed me his heart is red with Arsenal. I wanted to enjoy with him. I said to him one month ago that I wanted to do something important in his last matches with us at the moment -- maybe he can come back in the future. It will not be with him on the pitch but he is still with us," said Unai Emery.
