Oct 12, 2019 1:46 PM

Sporting CP's president said that the club could one day rename their stadium after Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Calling the stadium 'Cristiano Ronaldo' is an option that, right now, we are not against. It would be a source of great pride for us ... Cristiano Ronaldo is and always will be one of the great symbols in the club's history. We are very proud to be associated with Cristiano and that the name of the best player of the world is associated with Sporting," said Frederico Varandas.

Ronaldo joined the club at age 12 before eventually moving to Manchester United.

Varandas added that he wants Sporting youth to look up to Ronaldo.

"We want him to be an example for those in our academy, we want his image to be present in the lives of our young players."

Rodri: I Am Learning New Things At City Like 'Tactical Fouling'

Oct 11, 2019 8:14 PM

Rodri described his growth at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola, including how to play the defensive midfield position by himself.

"I think it's a big challenge for me because I never used to play this position particularly. I didn't have this exact role in the team. We have lots of offensive players and many other teams try to counterattack you and a lot of the time you're alone but it's good for me. I am learning new things, how to go, when to stay, when I have to do a tactical foul, when I have to jump. It's good for me to learn these things. And for the team it's good because we need those offensive players to be able to play our game," said Rodri.

Rodri then named Liverpool as the best team in Europe.

"But the team to beat is Liverpool now and that has been seen the last two seasons. They are the champions of Europe so everyone wants to beat them, not just us. They're a great team, they have improved a lot of things, they're a very good team, and they're the best team in England and in Europe."

Pep Guardiola: I Won't Sell Phil Foden For $550 Million

Oct 11, 2019 8:09 PM

Pep Guardiola emphasized that Phil Foden was a part of his future plans with Manchester City, saying the Foden was unsellable.

"We didn't give Foden a new contract by accident. He is the only player that can't be sold under any circumstances, the only one. Not even for €500m," said Guardiola.

Guardiola added that Foden would take over the playmaking role from David Silva.

"Phil's going nowhere. Phil is City. We won't be signing anyone else for that position. When David Silva leaves, we know exactly who our new magician will be."

Lautaro Looking To Sign New Inter Contract

Oct 10, 2019 2:15 PM

Lautaro Martinez is looking to sign a new contract with Inter, according to his agent.

Barcelona have been linked with a move for the Argentine striker, although his agent says that Lautaro is developing under Antonio Conte.

“I believe Antonio Conte’s arrival has improved Lautaro on a physical and tactical level. He has improved in so many ways, but above all his fitness levels and power. He’s always had a lot of self-confidence, playing very well against Barcelona and Juventus. Lautaro is still young and probably needs to learn how to measure out his enthusiasm and energy through the 90 minutes. He is very intelligent and knows how hard he still has to work," said Beto Yaque.
