Laurent Blanc has turned down interest from the United States to replace Bruce Arena.

Blanc has been away from the game since he was fired by Paris Saint-Germain in 2016 with €22 million remaining on his deal.

"I was approached to coach internationally but it was a no. Especially when it is not your own country," he told Le Parisien, which said he was speaking about the United States vacancy.

"International coaching must touch your national [roots]. Because of this, I turned it down."

The United States likely won't hire a manager until after the federation's presidential election.
