Manchester City believes Pep Guardiola has the same qualities that led Alex Ferguson to create a long-term dynasty at Manchester United.

Guardiola will discuss a contract extension with City this summer.

In the modern era of the game, most coaches remain with a single club for no more than three or four years even when highly successful.

While Ferguson spent 26 years with United, City believes Guardiola can be convinced to stay for at least a decade. Guardiola's three-year deal ends in the summer of 2019 and he's previously indicated that would be the maximum length of his stay with the club.

Guardiola was given unswerving support by the club’s board after their third place finish in his first season and is known to be impressed by the structure of the club.
