Pep Guardiola said a club could conceivably activate Lionel Messi's €300 million ($353 million) buyout clause with Barcelona. Sources say the club won't be Manchester City.

"I don't know -- someone might if they have the money and want to spend it," said Guardiola.

"It might happen, who knows?"

Messi's current terms expire in 2018 and he's reportedly agreed upon an extension, but he has yet to sign it. Messi could sign a precontract with other clubs beginning on Jan. 1st if he doesn't sign the extension.
