Ander Herrera is prepared to turn down a summer move to Barcelona to remain with Manchester United.

Herrera was named United's Player of the Year this season.

Herrera worked with new Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde at Athletic Bilbao before joining United in a £24 million deal in 2014.

Asked ahead of the Europa League final whether he could end his career at United, he told ESPN FC: "Yes, to finish your career in this club you have to perform every season, and it's not so easy.

"I think a lot of players have the quality to make a very good season, but the most difficult thing is the consistency. I am still 27.

"Hopefully one day you can compare me with legends of the club, but you cannot do it yet.

"I have to perform for a long time for the biggest and the greatest club in England, so it's not so easy."
