A £72 million ($92 million) bid by Manchester United to Monaco for Kylian Mbappe has been rejected as the club is seeking a world-record £100 million ($128 million) fee.

Jose Mourinho has made Mbappe one of his main targets for the summer.

Monaco would like to keep Mbappe for at least another season and it is unlikely they will actually sell him this summer. Monaco believes he can sell in 2018 for £125 million ($160 million).

United also are seeking Antoine Griezmann.

Mbappe's preferred destination is Real Madrid but they have yet to make an inquiry for him.
