Manchester United has reportedly asked Jose Mourinho to wait for the 2017-18 season to become their manager.

Ed Woodward had hoped Mourinho might accept his proposal and spent the next 12 months in the Chinese Super League ahead of becoming manager of United.

Mourinho has been clear with his interest to return to managing this summer.
