N'Golo Kante has received a call-up to the France squad for the international break.

Kante is expected to earn recognition ahead of Manchester United’s Morgan Schneiderlin when Deschamps announces his party for the friendlies against Holland in Amsterdam on 25 March and Russia at the Stade de France four days later.

Kante wasn't featured for France's junior ranks and is already 24 without a call-up.

Kante will compete with players such as Paul Pogba, Blaise Matuidi, Yohan Cabaye, Moussa Sissoko and Lassana Diarra for a place in the starting lineup.

“We’ve been following him,” said Didier Deschamps. “At Caen he was putting in some good performances but with Leicester, who are having a surprising season, he’s been performing very well.

“There are experienced players [in the squad] and it’s up to them to continue performing well, but if there’s someone who can bring something different to the squad, I’ll select him.”
