Mario Balotelli has made just four appearances this season for AC Milan as he deals with a hernia that hasn't healed as expected.

Balotelli has been out since the start of October and may need surgery.

Liverpool is hoping Balotelli plays well enough so his value will rise and they can recoup some of his $21.5 million transfer fee.
