David de Gea has declined to deny that his new Manchester United contract has a release clause, referring the question to his agent Jorge Mendes.

De Gea appeared set to leave United for Real Madrid, but the paperwork was filed after the deadline.

De Gea then agreed upon a new four-year deal with United that runs until June 2019.

The release clause could be worth £30 million, which was the approximate value of the transfer agreement.

“You should ask Jorge that question,” De Gea said. “He is the one who pays attention to those sort of details.” United have also refused to comment on whether the clause exists when asked by the Guardian.
