Liverpool has reached out to Jurgen Klopp about his interesting in becoming the club's next manager.

Klopp is said to be Liverpool's first choice to replace Brendan Rodgers.

Liverpool want to hold proper discussions with Klopp before the end of this week, with a view to having him appointed in time for their next match, away to Tottenham on Oct. 17.

Carlo Ancelotti hasn't been ruled out, though he is unlikely to take his planned year-long sabbatical.

Football Insider reports Klopp is seeking a five-year, £40 million contract from Liverpool. Rodgers was earning approximately £6 million per season.
