Manchester United will make a final attempt to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid as they hope to resolve the David De Gea situation before the end of the transfer window.

United have long been interested in Bale and they believe they could have leverage.

Sergio Ramos was United's previous target from Real Madrid, but the central defender has signed an extension.

Real president Florentino Perez has so far been highly reluctant to sell such stars, particularly as he orchestrated the big-money deal from Tottenham in 2013 and made the Wales international such a big part of his "project."
